Christmas Gingerbread Latte Espresso, gently spiced milk and a little brown sugar. Our lightly sweetened house version uses ½ teaspoon of added sugar.
Makes 1 drink · About 10 minutes · Contains milk
Ingredients 30 ml freshly brewed espresso 200 ml whole milk, divided ¼ tsp ground ginger ⅛ tsp ground cinnamon A tiny pinch of ground nutmeg ¼ tsp vanilla extract ½ level tsp soft brown sugar Optional: extra cinnamon and a small gingerbread biscuit to serve alongside You’ll need A small saucepan, whisk, milk frother, espresso maker and a 300–350 ml heatproof cup.
Method Combine the spices, sugar, vanilla and 50 ml of the milk in the saucepan. Warm gently, whisking until the sugar dissolves and the spices are dispersed. Ground spices will not dissolve completely. Add the remaining 150 ml milk . Heat until steaming, without boiling. Remove from the heat. Place the pan on a heatproof surface and froth lightly, keeping the frother head submerged. Brew the espresso into your cup. Pour in the spiced milk, finishing with a little foam. Dust lightly with cinnamon, if you like. Serve the biscuit beside the cup and let the drink cool comfortably before sipping. The optional biscuit adds sweetness separately and may contain wheat, egg or other allergens; check its ingredients.
About this recipe Our lighter-sugar adaptation, inspired by Esther Clark’s gingerbread latte at Good Food . This exact adaptation has not yet been kitchen-tested.
